Revelation 18: The Fall of Babylon

Image
Revelation 18: The Fall of Babylon (v1-8) Angels Proclaim Babylon Has Fallen (v1-3) John saw another angel with great authority - whose glory brightened the world - who declare that Babylon the great has fallen. Babylon was the dwelling place for demons, and a haunt for unclean spirit, unclean bird, and detestable beast. Nations have drunk the wine of passion of her sexual immorality, and kings have committed the same immorality with her. The merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.  As we said in Chapter 17 ,  the harlot is part of Babylon. The harlot represents the false religion of the world, while the rest of Babylon represent economic and political system. The phrase "the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living" (v3) confirms Babylon is about greed, money and power.  As 1 Tim 6:10 says: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils."   The anti-Christ will make the corru...

Revelation 17 - The Harlot

Revelation 17 - The Harlot (v1-6)  Vision of the Harlot (v1-2) One of the angels who had the seven bowls came to John and ask him to follow him to see the judgement of the "great harlot" who sits on "many waters", with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication and the people on earth was made drunk with the wine of her fornication.    "Seated on many waters" mean to have presence and relationships with other nations, either economically, politically, and perhaps religiously.  (v3-4) John was carried in the Spirit into the wilderness, and he saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which has full of names of blasphemy. The beast has seven heads and ten horns. The woman was wearing purple and scarlet, and adorn with gold and precious stones. Her hand was carrying a golden cup full of abomination and filthiness of her fornications.   aminoapps.com As we know, the beast with seven heads and ten horns, is the anti-Christ. (Rev 13:1)   The woman'...

Revelation 16: Pouring Out The Seven Bowls

Image
Revelation 16: Pouring Out The Seven Bowls v1-12 : First to Fifth Bowl John hear a loud voice from the temple telling the seven angels to pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God.  Again, the angels cannot do anything without the commandments from God or higher level angels. The first angel pour his bowl, and harmful (NKJ: foul) and painful (NKJ: loathsome) sore came upon those who bore the mark of the beast and worshipped his image. (v2) The "sores" in Greek refers to a wound or ulcer.  This is similar to the curse God put on Egypt that causes boils on man and beasts. (Exodus 9:8-12) The things God hate the most is supporting evil and idol worship - both of them contradicts God's holiness and the only one who is worthy to be worshipped. The second angel poured their bowl on the sea, and the third angel poured on the rivers and springs. All the waters turned into blood (v3-4). In Egypt, God turn the Neil River into blood, but not the sea. (Exodus 7:14-25) This i...

Revelation 15: The Seven Angels with Seven Plagues

Image
Revelation 15: The Seven Angels with Seven Plagues v2-3: Sea Of Glass John saw a sea of glass mingled with fire. Standing beside the sea of glass are those who had resist the beast (anti-Christ) and did not worship it's image, nor accept the number of it's name. They had harps and sang the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb. These people who resist the anti-Christ include those who had been raptured in the first harvest (Rev. 14:14-16), and the 144000 Jews, and those who died during the tribulation and was resurrected. It did not state other Christians who were resurrected or rapture before the tribulation, as those were gone from earth before the anti-Christ came.  The connection of Moses and the Lamb transcends two covenant - the old and the new.  Law and Grace was finally integrated and live in harmony in the end days. The Israelites recognized that Jesus was their Messiah.  A portion of the song said:  “Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the A...

Revelation 14: Harvest of The Earth

Image
Revelation 14: Harvest of The Earth v1-5: The Lamb and the 144,000 John saw the Lamb stood on Mount Zion (Jerusalem) together with the 144,000 Israelites whom we read on Revelation 7.  Over in chapter 7, the 144,000 was sealed on their foreheads, but here it gives the details of the seal, which is the name of the Lamb and the Father. (v1)  Then John heard a loud sound, like roar of waters and loud thunder. Some say this is the voice of God (Rev 1:15, 4:5.) He also heard the sound of harpists and a new song before throne of God and among the four cherubim and elders. (v2) The harpist could be the elders, for each of the them have a harp in Revelation 5:8.   It seems to appear that this is another rapture of the 144,000 Israelites near the end of the seven years, and Jesus took them back to heaven where they sing a new song in front of the throne and elders. Their ministry of proclaiming the Gospel is over.  The new song was sung by the 144,000 as no one el...
