Revelation 18: The Fall of Babylon (v1-8) Angels Proclaim Babylon Has Fallen (v1-3) John saw another angel with great authority - whose glory brightened the world - who declare that Babylon the great has fallen. Babylon was the dwelling place for demons, and a haunt for unclean spirit, unclean bird, and detestable beast. Nations have drunk the wine of passion of her sexual immorality, and kings have committed the same immorality with her. The merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living. As we said in Chapter 17 , the harlot is part of Babylon. The harlot represents the false religion of the world, while the rest of Babylon represent economic and political system. The phrase "the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living" (v3) confirms Babylon is about greed, money and power.
